Science/Dance in two 30 minute lessons, students will learn the requirements for plant growth as they explore movement.
My Many Colored Days Health/Language Arts/Dance In a 45-­‐minute class students will develop a deeper understanding of their emotions by exploring and creating a dance based on the book My Many Colored Days.
Flashlight Language Arts/Dance

In two 30 minute sessions, the students will understand the author’s overall message as they dance “night, nature, and art” (Boyd) with the use of a flashlight.


DRAMA

What Do Living Things Need to Survive? Science/Drama Students will examine the needs of living things by comparing them to non-living things.  They will also demonstrate forces that push and pull on an object.
Seasons and Weather - K-1 Science/Drama Students will learn about the need for different types of weather and associate the weather with seasons.
Jungle Drums Language Arts/Social Studies/Drama

 This is a process drama based on the book Jungle Drums, by Graeme Base. The students will learn that everyone has a place in the family, neighborhood and community. Everyone is different in some way and we need to accept and celebrate the differences. 

Literature in Tableau Language Arts/ Drama

This lesson plan is a guide to recreating stories using a theatrical convention known as tableau. In this lesson, students will analyze the events, characters and setting of a story as they recreate the story in frozen images.

Finding Characters in Poetry Language Arts/ Drama

 Students will learn to find characters and emotions in poetry and will learn ways of demonstrating these. 

Creating a Process Drama Language Arts/ Social Studies/ Drama

 This is a “how to” instruction guide for teachers who would like to create their own process drama.

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble Language Arts/ Social Studies/ Drama

Through process drama, students will learn about the beginning, middle and end of the story and about their own responsibility as a member of a community.

Short Vowel Sounds Language Arts/Drama

 Students will recognize short vowel sounds by acting out CVC words.


MUSIC

Humpty Dumpty  Language Arts/ Math/Music/Drama Students will develop a deeper understanding of the vocabulary used in the nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty, how to express ideas of the song through actions, count backwards from 10, and how to be safe.
Sound House Social Studies/Music Kindergarteners will listen and identify which instrument was played from inside the “Sound House.” They will make connections between instrument families and their own families.
Literature and Beat Working Together Language Arts/Music

Students will learn to pat the beat to an alphabet book, "A My Name is Alice." They will then create their own verse after the pattern set in the book.


VISUAL ARTS
